It’s not confirmed that this Picture (“The Lantern Bearers” by Maxfield Parrish from 1908) really was an inspiration for Naoko but it seems quite obvious somehow. She only said that those dresses were designer fashion, but I couldn’t find out by whom they were designed.

Does anyone know? I would be interested in seeing the original dresses.
